Entekor 1 mg, the generic form of Entecavir is specified against Hepatitis B viral (HBV) infection in adults. Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir) with its anti-HBV properties, improves the deteriorating conditions of the liver by reducing the multiplication of viral cells. If HIV and HBV co-infected patients are not taking other anti-viral medicines, Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir) can also be used in such patients.
Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir) is taken orally once daily on empty stomach. The drug should be taken after 2 hours of consuming food and before 2 hours of the next meal.

Side-effects of Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir):
Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir) shows a minimal number of side-effects including headache, dizziness, nausea and tiredness which are the most common ones. However, certain uncommon side-effects are diversified among different populations.
These include disorders, ?
- Occurring in the immune system (Shock or a sudden drop in BP- Anaphylactoid reaction)
- Related to nutrition and metabolism (Excessive amounts of lactic acid in the blood- Lactic acidosis)
- Occurring in the liver and biliary regions (Increased amounts of transaminases in the blood)
- Of skin and tissues (Rashes or Loss of hair- Alopecia)
Serious side-effects:
There are a few serious conditions associated with Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir). These include lactic acidosis, enlarged liver (hepatomegaly) or excessive amounts of fat in the liver (steatosis). Such patients should be immediately taken to the emergency room if they are seen with the above-mentioned conditions.

When should Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir) be avoided or used cautiously?
If patients,
- Are co-infected with HIV and HBV
- Have severe acute conditions of Hepatitis B
- Have previous or current events of Lactic acidosis
- Are taking any other medicine for their HBV infection, or other vitamins and herbal supplements
- Kidney disease
- Other medical conditions
- If patients are pregnant or planning to get pregnant
Warnings related to Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir)
Before the initiation of dose:
It should be informed that Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir) is not used for,
- Complete cure of HBV infection
- Reducing the chances of procuring liver cancer
- Decreasing the scarring of the liver (cirrhosis)
- Eliminating the chances of HBV transmission through sexual contact
After initiating the dose:
- Entekor 1 mg (Entecavir) should be consumed as prescribed without changing or stopping the dose
- If a particular dose is missed, take it as you remember by following the given regimen
- If it is time for the next dose, skip the last one and avoid taking two doses at a time
